What are the Requirements for Fire Doors in Homes?Homes with three or more levels, these include a two-storey home with an additional loft conversion, must have fire doors. Homes with integral garages also require fire doors at the connecting entryway.

Who is Responsible for Fire Doors in Flats?The landlord or building owner are responsible for installing, servicing and maintaining fire doors in blocks of flats.

Are Fire Doors a Legal Requirement?Yes, fire doors are a legal requirement for some front doors, domestic buildings over two storeys including loft conversions as well as properties with an integral garage, in blocks of flats over 4.5 meters and properties with communal areas such as HMOs.

How Often do Fire Doors Need to be Inspected?Fire doors should be inspected at least every 6 months. However, in high-traffic areas, fire doors may need to be inspected more frequently such as quarterly or even monthly.

What are the Reasons Fire Doors Should Always be Shut?It’s a legal requirement for all fire doors to remain closed and never propped open. This is important as if they are open, they are rendered useless in the event of a fire and will not prevent a fire from spreading.

Are Keytek Locksmiths Courses Accredited or Certified?We offer both a Qualification and an Accreditation, upon completion of either locksmith course students gain a certificate from an external governing body – either Highfield or NCFE.

Do I Need Prior Experience Before Enrolling on a Course?All Keytek courses are designed for newcomers to the locksmith industry. Whilst no prior experience is necessary, those with current overlapping skillset will find it advantageous.
